About this Qualification
New for 2021, the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety course will practically prepare those with responsibility for fire safety within their organisation working anywhere in the world. The Fire Certificate has been designed for managers, supervisors, employee representatives and those embarking on a role with fire safety responsibility and aims to equip holders to contribute to the conduct and review of fire risk assessments and fire preventive and protective measures within most workplaces.
The full title of this new qualification is: "NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety" and it replaces two older versions:
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management
- NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management

Syllabus Summary (new 2021 Specification)
The course syllabus consists of the following study elements:
FSC1:
- Managing fire safety
- Principles of fire and explosion
- Fuel, oxygen and ignition sources and control measures
- Fire protection of buildings
- Safety of people in the event of fire
- Fire safety risk assessment
Examinations
The examination comprises one written paper and one practical assessment. Each written paper consists of one 'long-answer' question and ten 'short-answer' questions. All questions are compulsory. The practical assessment consists of carrying out a risk assessment of a workplace and preparing a short report.
Exam Sitting Fees: Examinations and the practical assessment are now completed entirely online, therefore there are no longer any additional venue sitting fees.
